This Racing Sea Kayak was designed specifically for the "Length of New Zealand Race" and built around the safety criteria drawn up for that race. The OceanX is built along the lines a long racing surf ski, so it is very fast and tracks very well in the sea, it also very suitable for kayak racing in the many harbours, estuaries, fiords and lakes of New Zealand, it also lends itself well to the kayak sections of many multi-sport races and performance touring.
The OceanX is fast, light, comfortable and surprisingly stable. It weighs only 11 kg 'out of the mould' and 16.5 kg 'fully rigged'.
This latest addition to the Ruahine stable Kayaks is fitted with foam bulkheads and hatches front and rear. There are deck lines on front and rear decks and steering is from a Kengineering fully retractable hydrodynamic rudder controlled by OZO footrests and toe flaps.
