Simon River Sports and Ruahine Kayaks Form Strategic Alliance January 17, 2005 Montreal, Quebec: Karen Lukanovich, President of Simon River Sports and Kevin Osborne, on behalf of Ruahine Kayaks are pleased to announce that they have formed a strategic alliance which includes marketing and distribution agreements for North America. Ruahine Kayaks, founded by Mike Rowley and based in New Zealand, has been a leader in the design and manufacture of multi-sport racing kayaks for over 30 years and is known for high quality Kevlar boats worldwide. Simon River Sports, a leader in performance boat and paddle designs in North America, manufactures and markets composite fitness and flatwater racing kayaks, canoes and paddles. The terms of the agreement are exclusive and allow SRS to market and distribute the Ruahine line of multi-sport kayaks across North America to the emerging fitness, multi-sport, and adventure racing markets. "This is a very exciting development for performance oriented paddlers who want a very fast, stable, light boat for multi water conditions. The Ruahine Kayaks are designed to handle downriver, oceans and lake paddling in one hull." Explains Karen Lukanovich, "SRS will now be able to offer a complimentary line of boats at very competitive prices to racers and fitness paddlers." Commenting on the alliance, Kevin Osborne reflects, " SRS is a quality partner who is very involved and well known with the various segments of the fitness and racing community, including multi-sport and adventure racing, and will help us bring our designs to the North American market." Both Osborne and Lukanovich believe that the experience of both companies combined will result in benefits for the fitness and performance markets here in North America by offering a range of performance boats for any type of water condition, flatwater to ocean racing.
