Adventure Racing

Simon River Sports is proud have been a part of Team Nike's victory in the 2006 Raid World Adventure Racing Championships!

"This was our first time racing in the Rauhine Duet Sea Kayaks, they are incredible boats. We've raced Adventure Races around the world for a decade now and have never had the opportunity to race in boats as nice and more importantly as fast as these.

It felt like we were in some luxury liner cruising across the lakes and Fjords in Northern Quebec Canada. When we found out that the teams racing in the Raid World Adventure Racing Championships would be responsible for finding their own sea kayaks to paddle in the race, we were in search of the best and fastest boats we could find. We didn't want to be racing in inferior kayaks to that of our opponents.

We discovered that Karen and the gang at Simon River Sports had a couple of brand new Rauhine Duets that they would be gracious enough set us up with for the race. These boats were, durable, fast, stable, comfortable and light weight. We couldn't have been more pleased to be racing with the Rauhine Duet!!"

Nike POWERblast - Raid World Champions By Chris Archer - Raid Reporter

Five days and 1,000km after taking the start of this 3rd edition of The Raid World Championships on the shores of Lake Chigoubiche, the Legends of NIKE/POWERBLAST (USA/NZ) cruised into Tadoussac, located on the mouth of the Saguenay Fjord, to an accolade worthy of champions.

Mike KLOSER, Sari ANDERSON, Michael TOBIN and Richard USSHER completed the final sea-kayaking section, 18km around the headland into the picturesque port of Tadoussac, Canada’s oldest village, on waters that were as calm and serene as the athletes themselves.

It hadn’t always been so: “The last 24 hours have been very stressful and we were glad to be able to sleep this morning after the MTB,” explained Richard. “We are all very happy to win what is unquestionably the hardest race in the world, especially as competing with the French adds a competitive edge that no other race can boast,” the Kiwi concluded, the sound of sirens and applause still ringing in the air. The final podium with race times:

1. NIKE/POWERBLAST (USA) 127h51:38

2. WILSA SPORT/HELLY HANSEN (FRA) 130h26:38

3. GOLITE-TIMBERLAND (NZL) 130h53:38
